雪筠 (Yukishino) is a traditional Japanese colour name describing the pale, muted grey-white of bamboo grass dusted with snow. It belongs to Japan’s classical colour vocabulary — a tradition of naming colours after natural phenomena that dates back to the Heian period (794–1185 AD). In Japanese aesthetics, snow-covered landscapes carry a sense of stillness and quiet beauty — wabi-sabi at its most serene. This glaze captures that spirit exactly.
