鳥獣戯画 (Chōjū Giga) — "frolicking animals" — is a set of four illustrated scrolls created in 12th–13th century Japan, now housed at Kōzan-ji temple in Kyoto. Widely regarded as the world's oldest manga, the scrolls depict frogs, rabbits, and monkeys behaving like humans. The motifs on these glasses are drawn directly from that 800-year-old tradition.
