Framed The Great Wave off Kanagawa Woodblock Print
The masterpiece, Framed The Great Wave off Kanagawa Woodblock Print or to give it its full name, 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa', is a Japanese woodblock print by Katsushika Hokusai. It is Hokusai's most famous work and one of the most recognisable works of Japanese art in the world! This iconic image depicts a giant wave which threatens three small boats off the coast of the town of Kanagawa (the present-day city of Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture) while Mount Fuji stands majestic in the background. It was published sometime between 1829 and 1833 in the late Edo period as the first print in Hokusai's series 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji'. This is a superb quality authentic woodblock print from Japan which has been crafted using the same printing techniques as the original. Framed The Great Wave off Kanagawa Woodblock Print comes complete with stunning black gloss wooden frame and a very classy looking cream double mount!
