Framed Taikobashi Bridge of Meguro Woodblock Print
The Framed Taikobashi Bridge of Meguro Woodblock Print is a superb quality authentic woodblock print from Japan which has been crafted using the same traditional printing techniques as the original, by the master Utagawa Hiroshige. It is from the series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo. Of the two attractions mentioned in the title, the Drum Bridge was the more celebrated site in the Meguro area. Arched bridges were unusual enough in Edo, but even more curious was a stone bridge, which offered few advantages in a city prone to earthquakes. Hiroshige evokes a greater sense of isolation, even loneliness, in this snow scene by offering an oblique view. The colour quality of the Framed Taikobashi Bridge of Meguro Woodblock Print is really quite exceptional and it would make a special gift guaranteed to add a touch of Japanese style to any room!
