Quietly commanding — the Bidro Traditional Japanese Ikebana Vase is made in Japan in the Shigaraki-yaki tradition, with a rich indigo blue and earthy brown Bidro glaze. Smooth surfaces give way to naturally textured patches, and the glaze shifts in different light. Designed for ikebana — the Japanese art of flower arranging — its form invites a single stem, a dried arrangement, or simply stillness.

ビードロ — Bidro — From the Portuguese vidro, meaning glass
Bidro (ビードロ) takes its name from the Portuguese word for glass — a nod to the glaze technique brought to Japan by Portuguese traders in the 16th century. Over time, Japanese potters absorbed and transformed this influence into something entirely their own. The vase is made in the Shigaraki-yaki tradition (信楽焼), one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns with over 1,200 years of history. Ikebana (生け花) — the Japanese art of flower arranging practised for over 600 years — is about harmony, balance, and the beauty of negative space.
