The Sudden Shower over Shin Ohashi Bridge and Atake Print is based on the original Japanese woodblock print by the famous artist, Hiroshige. Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) is considered to be the last great master of the woodblock print and in the Japan of his day, his prints fostered a new and far-reaching appreciation for nature in art, and in the west, his work influenced artists such as Whistler, Cezanne and Gaughin. He specialised in 'Ukiyo-e', a genre of Japanese art and a collaborative system of printing where the artist, carver, printer, and publisher engaged in division of labour. This fabulous print features people crossing part of the wooden bridge Shin-Ohashi over the Sumida River during a rain shower.

The print is part of the series ‘One Hundred Famous Views of Edo’ which features 119 views of celebrated spots in Tokyo. Printed on a matt 250gsm conservation digital paper, a very versatile high quality paper made with acid and chlorine free wood pulp. The Sudden Shower over Shin Ohashi Bridge and Atake Print is guaranteed to add a touch of Japanese style to your room!
